Caffeine

Action

A vegetable alkaloid found in tea, coffee, cola, cocoa etc.
A stimulant to the central nervous system. Promotes alertness, for physical & mental activity and retards sleep.
One cup of tea may contain 60 - 90 mg caffeine. One cup of coffee between 90 - 150mg caffeine. Cola beverages may contain 40 - 70 mg.
Toxic effects include palpitations, headache, sleeplessness, irritability, anxiety, high blood pressure.

Good alternatives are ginseng, gotu kola, guarana, German chamomile.

Uses

For energy, mental alertness.
