Name

L-Glutamine

Action

An amino acid that is not found in food. It is the primary fuel of the brain and can take the place of glucose.
In very low calorie / starvation diets, glutamine is released from the muscles to replace glycogen, when the glycogen stores have been depleted.

Glutamine also plays a role in DNA synthesis and large amounts stimulate muscle protein synthesis. This is why this is such a popular product amongst athletes, body-builders, very active and convalescing people.
Useful for Immune System function.

Also used by health care practitioners for patients with Digestive & Intestinal Problems as it is used as a fuel source for cells lining the intestines.
In the absence of glutamine, these cells waste away over time.
