Why choose a home-use enema?

Digestive system health can affect a number of other systems and processes in the body, including the immune system, metabolism, toxic load and nutrient absorption.

Long-term poor eating habits which lead to fermentation in the stomach and small intestine, and then putrefaction in the colon - such as diets high in sugar, dairy and saturated fat - can have serious consequences.

Over time (months and possibly even years), sticky deposits can build up on the inside of the colon walls. These deposits can harden in certain places, particularly when coupled with poor hydration, and can become difficult to dislodge.

Hidden constipation is when the bowel is sluggish and, although the person affected may even be experiencing a bowel motion daily, they do not realise that the waste matter has, in fact, been sitting in the colon for several days before elimination.

Failure to regularly remove waste matter and toxins from the digestive tract can lead to auto-intoxication (otherwise known as self-poisoning). If it stays in the colon for too long, it will continue to putrefy - creating a perfect breeding ground for harmful bacteria, yeasts and fungi. Meanwhile, liquid continues to be extracted and taken back into the bloodstream, along with toxins produced from the process of putrefaction.

This is often compounded by poor eating habits that lead to partly-digested food and, in turn, fermentation and increased bacterial activity in the gut.

What is an enema?

An enema is a painless process in which liquid (usually water) or gas is inserted into the rectum and colon via the anus to expel their contents.

Enemas can therefore be thought of as a form of colon cleanser that involves the use of equipment. They are particularly useful as part of a full body cleanse and detox programme, because they help to rid the body of any toxins, harmful micro-organisms and waste matter that may have accumulated in the colon over time - particularly if your diet is high in refined foods and lacking fresh fruit and vegetables.

Digestive problems resulting from poor diet and/or digestive disorders can often lead to bloating, wind and stomach pain. Many people use home enema kits for constipation relief, colon cleansing or as part of a regular cleanse and detox.

Home enemas are similar to (albeit more simplistic than) the procedures used by colonic irrigation and colon hydrotherapy clinics to cleanse the colon, but you can do it without embarrassment in the privacy of your own home!

Enemas and bowel cleansing are popular as alternative health therapies across the world. Advocates of liquid enemas and colon cleansing believe them to be safe and valuable tools for eliminating waste, toxins and accumulated fat from the body and supporting healthy muscular tone and activity in the colon. They are also thought to support weight loss and to give a feeling of general well-being.

For best results...

Best practice is to replenish bowel flora with probiotics after an enema. Ideally, use in conjunction with our other digestive system supplements and intestinal products for best results.
